Softwood Lumber: Common Grades
Southern Lumber Company is one of the last remaining lumber dealers that still stocks a full selection of dimensional, common Sugar Pine and select Construction Heart Redwood lumber. We also stock a complete selection of two-inch thick, Kiln-Dried Hemlock Fir, as well as 3-inch and 4-inch thick #1 Douglas Fir.

Softwood Lumber: Upper Grades
Southern Lumber has the largest and deepest selection of "upper" or Clear Grades of Softwoods. Our long-standing mill relationships have helped establish one of the finest in-stock collections of Clear Sugar Pine, Vertical-Grain Douglas Fir, and Clear, All-Heart Redwood in a variety of sizes and thicknesses.

Hardwoods from Around the World
When Ed Pohle purchased Southern Lumber in the early 1930's, he transformed the company from selling timbers to selling fine lumber, including the introduction of fine hardwoods to the woodworkers and craftsmen of the Santa Clara Valley. Today, Southern Lumber stocks over 50 species of hardwoods, with most species available clean, surfaced and free of defects.

Plywoods & Specialty Sheet Goods:
Southern Lumber stocks a full assortment of fir plywoods in full and partial sheets, including CDX, Marine, Fir Siding, and cabinet grades. MDF, particle board, MDO and Homasote are other popular substrate materials are also carried in stock, along with extremely unusual items such as Baltic/Finnish Birch Plywood, and bendable sheets like Wigglewood and Italian Poplar. Southern Lumber also has an unprecedented on-hand selection of Hardwood Plywoods including Red Oak, Birch, Maple, Walnut, Cherry, Alder, Mahogany, and Knotty Pine, as well as sheet veneers for woodworking and cabinetry needs. Most Hardwood Plywood species are also available "pre-finished."
